Found as a nodule, the outside appearance is usually gray or reddish, but gives few clues to the inside appearance which may be white, pink, red, yellow, orange, blue, or green, and may have copper inclusions. Some mines, such as the Mesnard, Quincy, Franklin, Centennial, Ojibway, have distinctive characteristic colors.
