Bumblebee Jasper is a sulfur-rich volcanic tuft harvested from volcanic vents in Indonesia. The harvesting process is hazardous, and material that first appeared on the gemstone markets sported vivid oranges, bright yellows, and deep blacks in this silica-rich volcanic tuft. I was able to find some of this old stock material at the Tucson gem shows and purchased several pieces, including this one.
An alien-like landscape of vivid oranges, yellow shades, grays and blacks appears across the highly polished surface. The back is more of a matt finish. As is normal with bumblebee, a few very small divots are visible on the reverse, but I observe no such flaws on the front. Hot colors and a two tone wrap of pink gold and argentium silver work together.
