In the old days of mining copper in the Keweenaw ore would be extracted with small BB's of copper in the ore. This type was called shot copper and was not considered desirable, because they were looking for big chunks of copper. Today this ore is found on waste piles. This piece came from the Kearsarge lode near Calumet. The ore is very hard, which makes for very shiny jewelry!
This is a historic piece from the Keweenaw peninsula, and a great reminder of the area. A great gift for someone to remember the area, or to celebrate Copper! Buy today-Enjoy forever!
