Caramel Candy Quincy Datolite

The classic Datolite Color from The Quincy Copper Mine in Hancock was Caramel. This spectacular Datolite comes infused with Native Copper. I cannot be sure who collected this piece, but somehow it worked its way to me via an elite Datolite collection. A classic locale and a classic Datolite. Seldom does a Quincy stone like this become available for your jewelry collection.  It is a dark yellow, surrounded by copper on much of the surface.  This was treated so the copper shine will last.

Wrapped elegantly in 14/20 square gold fill with a couple of 14/20 Rose gold twisted wires, they enhance the Copper in this pendant. The beauty is stunning. Finer examples of Quincy Datolite are seldom see. 

If you have ever toured the historic Quincy Mine, you can better appreciate the provenance of this Gemstone. Quincy was an important copper mine, and is a part of the national Keweenaw historic park area, currently open for tours.  You ride a tram down to a lower level, and enter a dark and primitive industrial area, traveling back in time.
