Have you ever experienced reaching into a muddy hole in a rock face and feeling something sharp inside? A shiver of anticipation runs through you when you explore the amethyst vugs near Thunder Bay, Canada. Sometimes, like a loose tooth, you can grab onto a part of a crystal cave and extract a mud-encrusted amethyst druzy. What a great thrill it is when you wash the mud off and discover thousands of flashing microcrystals!
This large druzy amethyst is one I mined a decade ago and recently rediscovered. The gemstone is meticulously wire-wrapped in a 5/16” tall bundle of argentium sterling and 14/20 gold fill wires. An elegant top and a large bail suitable for a larger omega or chain are finishing features. The back is perfectly smooth clear quartz over amethyst, with no druzy tips to harm your clothing.
Amethyst is the Birthstone of February and the wedding anniversary stone for the 33rd, but also it is a favorite of many people because of the amazing purple color.
If you enjoy purple, or your birthstone is amethyst, this Purple Mountain Majesty Amethyst Pendant will be your ticket to make someone happy--Buy it!
