When I cut this Fordite, it reminded me of beautiful blue, black and red metallic silver racing stripes like might be on a beautiful racing watercraft. In fact this antique metallic paint is from ski boats produced by the Century Boat plant in Manistee, Michigan. These boats glowed with shiny elegance, and looked spectacular in the sun. When you look at this piece in the sun, you can see flashes of bright color. Parallel to the left side an indent runs through the black and up to the top, giving a three dimensional aspect to the piece.
The back of the pendant is an all blue paint layer, a bonus for showing and telling the story of Fordite to your friends.
Fordite is not stone, but automotive or boat paint overspray, baked and accumulated in layers around the paint room. Since this wasteful method of painting is no longer used, these pieces are little bits of history for you to wear and enjoy.
The red-black-white theme makes it a sharp fashion choice. Wrapped in gold and argentium silver wires, this is a large pendant that will be noticed, and you can tell the story from boating history. Whether car racing or boats are your thing, this is an eye-catcher.
