Extinct millions of years ago, the only part left of these Megalodons are these teeth. Megs lived 23-3.6 million years ago. Megalodon means “big tooth” and it certainly describes these fossil teeth, found in southeastern US rivers. Our teeth came from the Savannah or Peace River in Florida. Great white sharks are a distant relative of the Meg. Sharks naturally shed lots of teeth. Divers search for these teeth, by feel, in bull sharks infested rivers. The waters are so muddied, you sometimes can't see much farther than a foot in front of you.
This is a real tooth, not a replica, and still has nice serrations on the teeth. A beautiful large Megalodon tooth, almost a museum quality tooth, it is over 4.5 inches in length by 3.5 inches in width. The surface of the tooth reminds of petrified wood, with mottled brown wood-like layering. Wire setting is tarnish-resistant argentium silver. The bail of 3/8” can accommodate a large chain or leather cord.
You can’t wear a tooth of this size and condition without generating conversations! Perfect for the science teacher or other fossil geek
