The Michigan greenstones in this pair of earrings came from an old collection actually found on Isle Royale years ago, when it was legal to collect there. Because all stones are different, they are not exact matches, but these greenstones are true natural stones with variation and closely matched in size and color. The chatoyant gemstones are approximately 10-11mm tall, on sterling silverear posts. These earrings come with easy to handle 5mm sterling backs.
The Isle Royale greenstone is the state gem of Michigan, and is found only in a few locations in the Keweenaw Peninsula and on Isle Royale National Park. Nice speckled patterns make a these a wonderful gift. The earrings have heirloom value as well since this stone is more rare than diamonds!
