Coober Pedy is a famous area for precious opals. Miners dig caves to protect themselves from the heat, and inch their way along seeking this precious bright material. A hundred years ago they were looking for gold, but found this other precious material.
Thin slices of crystal opal are attached to opal matrix rock, creating the doublet. This vivid neon blue doublet is wire wrapped in square tarnish-resistant Argentium silver and gold fill wires.
