The hexagons on this Petoskey Stone have small "threads" of texture moving out from the centers of each eye, giving it neat character. A brown tone, the faceted designer stone cut, and very clever wire art combine to make this a unique pendant. Surrounded by eight argentium wires, several twisted wires, with three pulled forward to secure the stone and add interest make this a most interesting piece.
The Petoskey Stone is a Devonian fossil, the state stone of Michigan, and is highly sought after by tourists and local residents in northern Michigan. Hard to find on beaches it is well camouflaged by a plain gray outside that comes to life under the skilled hand of a lapidarist.
