When most people think of Prehnite from Australia they picture beautiful light pastel green. Prehnite from the Upper Peninsula shows more variation, coming in pink, green, even purple and may contain chatoyant orbs that often fool people into thinking they are looking at thomsonite. In the Upper Peninsula Prehnite is a copper-associated mineral, and may include copper inclusions, sometimes microscopic, and sometimes bold inclusions such as this gemstone contains. Prehnite is one of the gemstones I look for while searching for greenstones, and it is always a pleasant surprise to find seams of promising rough material. This pendant is a semi-transparent apple green with a nice spread of copper throughout, cut into a faceted triangle and elegantly wrapped in pink gold and argentium silver wires. If you are looking for a stunning Upper Michigan gemstone piece, this is a good choice.
